Does anybody know who owns N39170? The address on FAA site not correct and that person has not lived there for ten years,so right here is my best bet.
Thanks,
With N number of 39170 and SN of 6443 that sounds about right for one of the early 45s that were built from old pre-war parts at the Taylorcraft factory when the war ended. My 41 is NC-36296 and SN 3214. My 45 is NC-43196 and SN 6855.
My understanding was that they did NOT worry about keeping the SNs in order when they were starting manufacture of civil planes back up. If is is one of those birds it will probably still have the nice light tube doors and be a really nice set of bones for a rebuild. Probably worth hunting down as a great "Barn Find".
Keep us up on the hunt. Where was it last seen?
Hank
