I weigh 195lbs. My T-Craft is a 65. I have flown an 85hp T-Craft. The difference in climb is tremendous. Makes it ALOT more fun. My Champ had an 85 with the SAME model prop (McCauley) . It also climbed VERY well. Its too bad T-Craft didn't switch to the 85 or 90 starting in 1946. Much better performer. JC

Kevin you can bet thet i will keep you in the loop as to how it is doing and jim the climb is something else vsi 1800 ft per min never with the 65 will fly tomaro and have some more numbers

Ok tribe got some good numbers today 74/43 prop 2150 static rpm level flight 2500 at 115mph with bush wheels!! and window open oh that's with two people oil temps 185 deg cht number 1 cyl 320 deg number 4 300 deg the others are in the same range grate climb short takeoff

I received your email about the photos and I noticed this one... that green part is the crankcase baffle I was talking about in a prior post. You should hang onto that and if you have oil temp issues in the hot summer... you might be glad you did. Or... if you send it to me, I would like to draw it up and possibly make some.

Terry that though has went threw my mind i will keep it and try to do a paper pattern and send you a copy it is bolted to side pieces also so far 86deg ambient and 180 deg oil temp and 350 cht on #1 # 4 330 at 2500 rpm and climbing so far so good will do first short cross country this week end will see how it does

Looks good. I know you are proud, rightfully so. A lot of money and a lot of hard work invested. I wish you the best. My only concerns have already been voiced... you are doing the right thing... small steps... watch and learn as you go. I hope to get some of this technology into mine someday.

terry that is why i sent you the photo album as you all ready have helped us do this by geting sa1-210 back on the market and if i can use this to collect data then we all will be better off

I have a mould for the "green part" you are welcome to use it. It is not too tough to hammer out the lower baffle.

I have one on my extra A65 engine that I've been saving for the Piet project too. I think I will buy some 6061-O material and play around with a hammer and sandbag.... in my "spare" time. By the way... I saw this thread on the supercub.org forum. Check out the home-made unit in the photos is pretty simple to make. Kinda crude looking. But the guy with this says it works well. It seems to be an easy way to make this part. I might experiment with this too when the summer rolls around.

Well we did a little work on the baffles yesterday and got to test it today. what i did was make a small baffle to close the gap across the center front below the crank shaft so now all the air has to go over the top of the engine what i found out was that my CHT temps went down about 45 deg they are now in the range of 350 to 375 and the oil was 175 deg SO until we get some real hot weather will fly it as it is and watch it close but i am happy and still cant believe how it performs Here is a link to youtube video of todays take of 1and 1/2 run way lights

Here is a update on the cooling question flew yesterday 60 mi cross country 92deg temp engine full throttle for 40 minutes 2500 msl engine oil temp 200 deg chts were all 4 in the 380 to 390 range and speed was 115 mph ind the gps was around 98 kts. Can't say how happy i am with the way the whole thing turned out and it flies grate

Well on the trip home 0 wind i played with the trim settings and got it on the step the engine wes makeing 2500 rpms and ground speed was 104 KTS on the gps 117 +or - boy am i happy Oh the temps were stable 210 on the oil 380/390 on chts full throttle run for 60 mi
