  • What type of fabric system?

I was doing an inspection on a T today and noticed that the fabric on the two wings is different. On one wing it is that greenish blue Ceconite color on the inside and on the other the inside of the fabric is more of a tan or brown. Just different dopes or is it another type of fabric? I know it has been many years since the plane was recovered. I am thinking the wing may have come off a different plane some decades ago?

greenish blue is either the old tinted Randolph or if more green may even be mold resistant dope which was designed for cotton but useable on ceconite. Only tan one I know of is Airtech.

The selvedge edge at the seams may have a brand or logo stamp. That is true of today's products but do not know if that was true a few years ago.

The green "Rand-O-Proof" is most common in the Ceconite process, but it is legal as well to use Blue W-7868 non-tautening nitrate or clear E-4964 nitrate dope as well, per the STC.
I agree with Mike, the only tan one I know of (other than Stewarts, if you order it that way) is Airtech.
        Any clues in the logbooks?

Tan or brown could be Stits (Polyfiber) depending on your color perception...

it could very well be cotton or linen covering
