Winter flying

Here in the balmy UK we rarely get the opportunity to fly in snow, but here's a 3-minute video from yesterday.

It was a lot colder (and snowier) earlier in the week, and 24 hours after this video was taken, most of it has gone.

A nice inversion layer at 2000' aal. QNH 1040 HPa, Temp -8C; density altitude about -3500 feet; excellent engine & wing performance.

What airport is that?

The tower has a very WWII look, like some B-17's should be parked along the runway.

My home bases is EGBG (Leicester).

It was built in 1943 for glider training and OCU for Operation Market Garden.

It's about as far from the sea as you can get (about 60 miles), so not the English Channel!

It looks so much different with the snow Rob. The control tower was a give away for me, otherwise it almost looked like it could have been taken around here. Well, except for the stone walls in the fields anyway. Thanks for sharing that.
