If you are refering to the "tie" strut and one is rounded out instead of streamline , you may be a lucky person to now know that water got inside and froze causing the round strut...... We have warned about this many times , there is hole in the bottom of the tie strut that needs to be drilled ( factory SB) to let water out ; check it. The tie strut may be weakened.... back later the Newells have arrived....

On my plane I have two different gear struts.
The tubes are different shape. were there different on the struts pre war post war and are they the same length.

SOME Pre-War had narrow shock cord area. B-A-50 L&R is the only call out in the book. This one just came in and will go to Brazil ( maybe). I call this a pre-war.

Tabs could be different and there are extra wires for the fabric positioning on the prewar ones. The will fit, just were set up to look nicer on the prewar ones. Tim

Thank you. I took a tape measure earlier and it all checks out the same. I will also take a look at the Taylorcraft parts manual.

Univair's gear UB-A50-L/R fits the models below and it includes pre and post war. So I would assume that at the very least the pre and post war Taylorcraft gear is all physically the same size.

Are pre war and post war landing gear legs interchangeable? I bought a replace right landing gear for my project which is a 1946 BC12 D. I was told after the fact that the replacement I bought was from a pre war aircraft. Looking at them, they look the same.
