I believe it is the same crank. I had a worn out, non-electrics C85 in my aircraft before the rebuild. I wanted electrics, and I found a C-85-12 that I had completely rebuilt. I had the old engine torn down. The old tapered shaft crank looked good so I had it sent off to be checked. It was magnafluxed and reground to .010 undersize on the crankpin journals and .020 undersize on the main journals per STC SE4247SW. A 337 was completed. I have the crank and the 337 and STC paperwork boxed up and ready to ship if you are interested.

If so, give me a call or PM me.

    Thanks,

    Rod

Rod, not to change the subject, but did I see your Tcraft on Flying Wild Alaska last night, being pushed back into the line at Valdez?

        John,

You beat me to it. I think that was Rod's T-Craft. Rod, you're famous!!!

I kept looking to find a post made by Rod so I could compare the picture. My wife just loves the big wheels on the T-Craft.
        Cheers,
        Marty

There was a black one flying just a few minutes later...I've seen that one but don't know who it belongs to.

John and Marty ... Yes, that was my Tcraft making a cameo appearance on Flying Wild Alaska last week!

I wasn't aware of it until I finally got around to watching that episode a couple nights ago. The Valdez Fly In and Air Show is a fantastic event and I particularly enjoyed flying the Tcraft down to Valdez last May. It was fresh out of the shop and had about 3 hours on the tach when I left for Valdez. While there, I was proud to receive the "Best Static Display" award (more of a beauty / popularity contest than the STOL awards). I didn't compete in the STOL or Flour Bombing last year, but I did participate in the "Poker Run" which included a beach landing on Hinchinbrook Island in Prince William Sound. There were a few other Taylorcrafts at the Fly-In ... and they did quite well in the STOL competition. Marty, for pics of my bird, check out the N-43121 posting in the Taylorcraft Registry thread.

It's now the heart of winter here in Alaska and, while cold, there have been a few fantastic days for ski flying recently. We have some great snow cover and it's been a joy to get out and play in the snow over the last week. I had forgotten how much fun can be had on skis. It's also incredible how the percentage of "good" landings goes way up when on skis.

Well, Rod, it was great to see 'one of our own' on TV! Thanks for sharing the story. It is such beautiful county there.
              Cheers,
              Marty
