Worked on a few of them for Norther Air Cargo, didnt look as nice with the dead fish crates in the fuselage. You ought to look up a Sebna Swing Tail DC-6, that was a real neat aircraft mod, the entire aft fuselage swung to the rt side. Tim

I never knew the pilots, worked as a mechanic washing and changing plugs...

He was a great guy and flew for them after age 60 when the old regs threw the guys out of airline work. He was in the top 20 seniority numbers at United. He gave me my complex high performance check out. Superb gentleman. He taught me survival skills you just can't get anywhere else. I think he was late 70s when I knew him. I was 40 at the time. An age ago.
