Re: Rand Babbit
In Virginia it is 0.08 g per 210 liters of breath if a breath test is used, or 0.08% if a blood test is used (by weight/volume) for adults.
For drivers who are less than 21 years old the legal limit is: 0.02 g per 210 liters of breath or 0.02% if a blood test is used. Of course if you are under age, there is a SECOND charge for that, but the driver laws are separate.

Re: Rand Babbit
A friend of mine is a state trooper and last year at our NASCAR Daytona 500 party we got him to give a couple of up the breath test. My sister-in-law who is about 100lbs soaking wet in overalls, 30 minutes after 3 wine coolers blew a .21, her 220lb husband after 8 bud lights and obviously buzzed off his ass blew a .19 . My wife who is around 150ish blew a .24 after 6 mich ultras. Myself at 210lbs and after 4 bud selects blew a .06.....go figure???? The breath test has a lot to do with what you're drinking, how fast your drinking, and genetic make up has a lot to do with it too.Kevin Mays

Re: Rand Babbit
True story, back in the day (like 40 years ago) four of us spent the 4th of July doing demo jumps (skydiving) in to various city celebrations through out the mid-west. We raised enough money doing these jumps to pay for the annual on our 172. Well we ended up in a small town in IOWA, that shall remain nameless, for our last jump. After landing and repacking, the pilot showed up and we commenced to partaking of the hospitality of the locals who made sure we didn't buy to many drinks ourselves. After several hours we decided it was time to fly back to our home base in ILLINOIS. Our pilot couldn't fly and finish his martini, in a stemmed glass by the way, at the same time so I graciously offered to finish it for him while he/we took off. It is about 11pm, dark, warm, just a beautiful night. I am sitting on the floor where the right seat would have been if it had been installed. The in-flight door was wide open. (in-flight door opened up against the wing) After being airborne for a few minute the pilot complained about having double vision so I got up on my knees to see out over the instrument panel as his covering one eye was not working. Besides the pilot I was the only one who had any idea on where we were or how to navigate. Between him and I we decided which rotating beacon was ours, flew to the airport, decided to make a pass over town just to enjoy the evening then he went on to make a very very nice landing. I am quite sure we all would have blown well over the limit for driving a car much less flying at night. A memorable night to say the least."I'm from the FAA and we're not happy, until your not happy."
