  • deluxe trim for a 41 BC

I may be looking for the Taylorcraft Holy Grail but here goes...
Has anyone cast any replacement deluxe trim pieces for a 41 BC? or have any extras they will part with?

    Replacement '41 grills

Check with Bill Haselton, South Bend, IN (574)291-3558. Bill had some cast up and may still have some spares. He can also mold pre-war T-Craft wheel pants.

      Pre-war wheelpants

Do you know if the wheelpants have doors to check tire pressure? Sabrina

        Wheel Pant Doors

They do not have doors. I have had a pair on my T for better than 20 years and all I ever did to air the tires was to remove the outboard attach/support bolt, lift the outboard side of the pant, and roll the airplane until I could get to the valve core. Not a big deal.

          Grills - OMT

I just talked to Bill on another subject and he advises that they are all gone, HOWEVER - I have a deal for you, if you are interested. I have a set (raw castings) except I had to use the right one to repair 29804. The right one that I have is broken, BUT I have the loose peice. I will loan them to you so that you can go have some cast up for your own use. All I ask is that you have an extra set cast up for me while you are doing it. Let me know what you want to do.

            castings

            Mike,
If you guys are talking about the metal grills that fit in the nosebowl of the engine cowl, I have an extra set.

I would be interested in borrowing the pieces, do you have the side trim and the nose trim?
I think I can pull a mold off of them then get a decent copy by using a vacuum/ investment casting setup.
If Sabrina wants to sell the grill pieces shoot me an e-mail or call me

                Sabrina:

Are you referring to the stamped grilles or the cast ones? I think Joel is looking for the cast ones.

Nose Trim for a '41 Taylorcraft DeLuxe - Wheel pants

                      Joel,
What I have to loan is a raw casting of the left hand cast grill with the fingers that wrap around the nose and line up with the three trim parts on the cowling.

Also have a right hand cast grill that was on my airplane when the hangar blew away. The fingers are broken off right at the main part of the grill casting. I have the fingers and they can be welded back on for the purpose of making another casting.

Also have a raw casting of the oil cooler inlet grill, located below the prop.

The raw castings are as pulled from the mold with all the flash and trash still on them. Don't forget, each time you copy the casting it gets just a little smaller, so you will have to close the cowl opening up just a little (maybe about an 1/8" all the way around. not a big deal.

Let me know if you are still interested. I will need an address to ship to.

                      Sabrina,
I must have had brain fade yesterday. The wheel pants have been on my T for 31 years, uhhh ! I have owned it since November 1970 and soon will have it flying again. Capt. Jon has pictures of the storm damage and the rebuilt. Tho I do owe him some more pictures.

                      Parts:
Looking for the following for my '40 BC-65 Trainer project if anyone can help.
                      -one round control wheel
                      -original mag switch
                      -right hand landing gear leg

                      Sorry I rambled. Later,

                        Joel,
I tried to call you earlier, but got some phone company recording. The grills that I have two sets of are the stamped type
