Man this is tough I cannot find any cowl chafe tape. Does anyone have any ideas. Every thing I look at is either teflon fiberglass renforced, 1 inch wide or something else. The stuff that came off mine was about 3/4 inch in width and about 1/16 thick. And how do you secure it, those little tabs on the firewall side wont do squat. If this wasnt enough the seat sling and baggage compartment canvas I bought a 6 months ago were the wrong size and now I'm getting Airtex to make me one with a 3 week lag time. No wonder it takes so long to do this crap.

Re: cowl chafe tape
It would be most helpful if someone who knows would post information about current sources of 3/4 " cowl chafe tape because it is needed in the upkeep of several brands of airplanes. About 20 years ago I found the same thing advertised in a catalog that had restoration products for old cars, but now cannot find anything advertised except the 1" wide stuff. Some airplanes even used a 1/2" or 5/8" chafe tape, sometimes rivited on and sometimes with "staples" which could be mimmicked with u shaped pieces of safety wire.
