Consolidaire Wheel Pants/Cover Info Needed

Hey guys, I am looking for some help. I was given a really nice pair of Consolidaire wheel pants for my '40 B Model project. Can anyone furnish pictures of the mounting method or drawings for the installation hardware for these pants on the T-Craft? Anyone close to me in Indianapolis area? I would like to see the installation in person.

Not sure what Consolidaire wheel pants look like. I have a couple of sets of brackets for my two planes as well as the nuts for the outer side of the pant. Can you post a picture of the pants you got?

The Consolidaire fairings are a spoon shaped pieces to keep the un-bagged Bandini off the bottom of the wings.

The mounts I have seen are wrapped around the gear leg over the fabric. These strips are padded and are located about 8 inches above the axle. A brace is used to support the whole mess, bolted to the gear strut attach.

OK, now I'm really curious what they look like. I am pretty sure what I have isn't going to work for yours but it would still be great to see some pictures when you get them.

They are like wheel spats or wheel fenders, for lack of a better term. Like cutting apart a wheelpant so only the top remains. I think that is what he is talking about. Never heard of Consolidaires before.

They sound neat. Perfect for landing on muddy and messy fields. The reason I don't put the regular pants on mine except for show is they will pick up mud on a dry concrete runway.

They look like the top 1/3 of a standard wheel pant, completely open on the bottom, and have a built in step where they sit on the gear. They some how clamp around the gear V. The clamping/mounting is the big question. They are intended to keep the mud off the bottoms of the wings. The TSDS says installation is in accordance with Consolidaire Drawing #0029. I think Forrest said they were designed by Duke Iden.

I have fibre glass reproductions fashioned to look EXACTLY like the original. They have saved me countless hours of cleaning and messing with the bottoms of the wings, bottom of fuselage, etc. from landing on grass runways recently rained upon. I simply flush them out with a hose, fly the airplane around a bit and presto. Not to mention that they make the airplane look much better and may even add a mile or two to speed. JC

Some years ago, I traded a good pair of the original fenders with Forrest. The last time I was in the hanger, they were still on the top of the shelves with a second beat up set. I should have kept them. They were complete with the mounting brackets.

I still have a set of #14 & #16's , yes Duke Iden ran Consolidair. they made the first Cessna 195 pant also ; the top was a wheel fender with the wrap around added for Cessna. There were various types built .
