  • First flight

This is my first try at posting photos so hope this works. NC34034 flew for the first time in many years so I thought I would post a couple of pics. Many thanks to all of you on the forum who helped out over the years. Hank, I still have the yoke center cap that you loaned me. I am still looking for a suitable replacement but will return it soon.

      Mark,
OK, I'm DROOLING! That is one beautiful ride.
As for the yoke center, I don't have any near term need for it, I just couldn't for the life of me remember who I loaned it to. ;-) It is as safe with you as with me, SAFER, I would probably loan it out again and forget who has it. There is precedence! If you find more of them let me know! I won't be restoring the yoke I have until I find a second one. I want them to match and to do that I need to get the plating and paint done on both wheels and shafts at once.
Of course if I forget again who has that one the embarrassment is going to kill me. No hurry returning it.
      Hank

They say the best way to improve your memory is to loan out money, just made me broke.

        Hank,

Sorry for my ignorance regarding the yoke center cap, but is it something that could be duplicated by a talented someone? I guess I don't remember what the caps look like for that particular yoke.

        Mark, beautiful plane!!!
        Cheers,

Looks like this. Brass that I was told was originally a dome top tractor engine block freeze plug.

I have to say, that is the prettiest Tcart I've seen in a while. I can't stop admiring that cockpit shot. Beautiful.

              Mark,
Absolutly beautiful Job on your t-craft. I love the original style deluxe panel & trim..

Hank, You are correct about center cap for the banjo yoke....or at least the correct size freeze plug will work. The trick is finding someone who can stamp the taylorcraft logo on it.

If you can find the right freeze plug, I have someone who will engrave the logo.

If mark can measure the one I sent him and you can get a part number and contact info for the tractor supplier we could be in business!

                      Re: First flight

WOW, I will have to look in to the New Holland Tractor as I had no luck at my local National Aviation Parts Association. Sorry I don't remember the size right now but I believe it is around 2 and 1/16". Larry

                        Hank,
Our New Holland dealer shut down about a year ago but I do have another local source who can order anything ya need that they could and then some.....if I look I might even have one of those original caps put up somewhere. I know I have a set of the banjo yokes but they are rough and need to be completely redone.

Kevin, if the New Holland conection works order about a dozen, we'll let Hank get them engraved and I will get to replace the one I seem to have lost! Grrrr.....still upset that I can't find it after spending hundreds getting my banjos all recromed and powder coated. The cost is not much of a consideration when put in context with what I have already spent.

No problem,we just need to make sure we get the right size. I also think they were chrome plated over brass if I'm not mistaken.

Yep mine are. Brass on the inside, chrome on the outer. No rust that way either. As a matter of fact my banjos were safetied with brass wire under the hub cap. L
