    Forrest

Hey Forrest I hope you are OK I haven't see you on in quite a spell. Averything here in Old Louisiana is going good. We are having to watch out for a hurracane every now and then but we are still hanging in there. I got my Hanger doors up and they work great. Ck you later.

I was able to get a 337 to use pop rivits for my 46 bc12d.
They work like a charm. I would NEVER consider any other
method as long as you have the right ribs.

        Bob:

which ribs did you get you 337 for? Pressed or built-up?

And which was your District Office?...FSDO? is that the term?

          Screw/rivet STC

The STC from Roger Kruser is for using PK screws to attach the fabric. I have used screws and they worked just fine for me. They were quick and easy. Along with the STC there is a letter from a FSDO somewhere near Atlantic City, NJ that states that in the opinion of the inspector at that FSDO using pop rivets instead of PK screws is a suitable replacement. You can use that letter as the basis for using pop rivets. Both the letter and the STC paperwork were given to Robert Lees to be posted on his website. Robert did you ever post that stuff?

One apologises, one has been tardy in executing one's duties.

One has posted required details (thanks for the reminder, Richard).

            Link is here

One hopes this does not tread on anyones copyright toes. Richard?

Further to the above, if using "Pop" rivets, then fabric washers should also be used under the rivet heads because the fabric pop rivets do not have the required grip length for the 0.025" flanges on the Taylorcraft. The Champion Aircraft ribs are 0.032".

Oh well, it all goes to a ball of chalk if the FAA approve the paperwork...forget the airworthiness!

We have one Taylorcraft over in the UK here riveted up on the basis of the C120/140/170 STC, which was kindly given to me by the STC holder, Mr Dip Davis, who refused any financial recompense for the STC copy, now there is an aviation gentleman. We did have to add washers, however, for the above stated reason.

                Screw/Pop Rivit STC

I have a photo copy of the STC page that allows the use of PK screws to attach fabric to Taylorcraft wings. I also have a letter from a FSDO that says they consider the use of pop rivits as a suitable alternative to the PK screws. This paperwork could be used as "approved data" for a field approval to use either the screws or rivits to attach the fabric to Taylorcraft wings.

What I have is a total of three pages. They are digitized in jpg format, but are too large to attach to a message on this site. If anyone wants a copy of these files email me directly at [email protected] . I am flying freight all this week but will be able to email these files out this weekend.

Also I sent a copy of these files to someone that was going to post them on their website. I am not sure, but it may have been Robert Lees.

[It was, Richard...see two posts above. Rob]

                  Pop Rivit STC

OK I see where you posted the files with the STC paperwork. Anyone should be able to get a 337 to use the pop rivits if they download those files. Thanks Rob!
