  • Fuel Caps, Latches

If any one can help, I recently purchased 44068, a BC12D-4-85 and need a couple of parts. I need a set of vented fuel tank caps, two of the female halves for the top to bottom cowling latches and a pair of the little catches that hold the doors open against the engine firwall side when the door is fully open. If you can steer me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

    fueltanklid

I purchased a fuel tanklid from a local tractor dealer. It has no wentubing on it but you can silver solder a copper tubing onto it.
Make the bent about 110 to 120 degre so water can't enter it from above. Cutting the tubing with a sligth angel may also help.
The reason for me replacing the maintank lid is to avoid rain water to enter the main tank as the aircraft is parked outside. I simply replace it with the solid one, what has a sign on it : Replace before fligth! and I hang the cap with the "fuel gauge" on the windshield support.

      Fuel caps

      Steve,

When you purchased your Tcraft, you should have gotten the drawings(Harer STC) that show the required method of fashioning the gas caps. There are two tubes, one inside of the other. If you do not have the drawings, let me know and I will send you a copy of mine.

Steve, to my knowledge there are no catches to hold the doors open. Not a Taylorcraft part.

I don't know if you need to hold the door fully open but I have a solution for holding it part way open (as far as the forward strut). A friend found these flat hooks that go over the top of bedroom or bathroom door to hang clothes on. He found them at the Dollar Store.

The curved portion (clothes part) of the hook catches the strut and the flat portion (bathroom door) catches the bottom of the T-craft door.
