  • Door Windors

The door windors have a bend in the leading edge. My past experance has been that if you stress the plastic, as you will with the bend in the door frame, the plastic will brake with time. If I order the windors from a manufacture, will they be preformed? If not what has been the experance with flat windows being installed. I hope you can make sense of this. thanks Rex

Put them in the oven at 325 for a few minutes and then form them to the door...they'll be fine.

I used a tile gun to warm the plastic up. It is thin enough that I just put my hand against the other side and warmed it till it got above the "comfort range". When I took the "glass" out it held the very slight curve. DON'T push on the plastic or get the heat gun close! You will end up with a REALLY nasty looking bubbled out window or a burned hand. The plastic can get VERY hot VERY fast!

.060 plexi can be cold bent as long as the radius of the bend is at least 3" or so.

Plan B is to install the window and use a heat gun to relieve the stress.

If the bend is too sharp, heating and forming the plastic before hand is necessary.
