After 2+ years and $1500 in lawyer fees, the FAA has finally accepted that I am the owner of N96421. Long story short. The previous owner (a long time friend) died eleven years ago. His widow sold it to me in October 2008. the FAA rejected the sale since the seller (also the executor for the estate and so approved by probate judge) was not the registered owner. I supplied them with copies of all of the available court documents, but the A/C was not specifically listed as an asset in the will. Despite the fact that NH court recognizes that "all personal and real property" to be inclusive of same, the FAA's position was "We're the Federal Government, we aren't interested in NH law." So, I had to get a judge to re-open the estate, add the A/C as an asset and declare the widow the executor for said asset.
At any rate, that battle is finally over. Time for celebratory beverage.
