The 4th annual Alaska Taylorcraft Fly-In at Skwentna will be Sunday, May 22 from 2:00 to 5:00pm. We will have BBQ Brats, flour bombing, and good old-fashioned Taylorcraft camaraderie. Reindeer brats will be provided, or bring your own meat to throw on the grill along with any drinks and snacks you like. This is an informal and fun time to get together with fellow T-Craft owners to share information and stories of flying your Taylorcraft in Alaska.

Re: Alaska Fly-In
Wish I could attend in the Tcart, I might be back from up north, if so I am in.
, just started up my new engine and FWF to find out I got a Lemon case from Divco. It ran really good for the 10 min I got on it, going to have to split the case.
The case has oil drooling down both sides of the case from the through bolt modification. I wanted to get a few hrs on her before strapping on the floats.
With as much money as I sunk into her I should have just bought that f22 on barnstormers and I'd have money left over. I guess it could be worse if the wife found out what I did.
At this point I deserve a fine bottle of Scotch.
I am going to fire up and run the Piper.

Re: Alaska Fly-In
Dot...WOW, 69V is finally in the air! Congratulations! We would be honored to have you and your newly finished prject there.
Eric...I can help you out on the fine Scotch...just bought a bottle of Talisker the other day. Drop me a note and we can get together and even add a nice Dominican cigar to the mix. Sorry about the engine case...that is a TOTAL bummer. I had to deal with the bolt issue myself and it wasn't cheap. If you're in town but need a way to get to Skwentna let us know. Someone will swoop in and pick you up.
Hope to see everyone soon. Forrest...we'll post some pictures.

Re: Alaska Fly-In
Got 69V up and test flown, and may get her wash-out and other issues found in the shake-down corrected by the weekend, but this pilot is not feeling current, safe, and proficient for flying (mainly landing) solo by this weekend.
Would I still be welcome without the plane? She's flyable, but I'm not going to risk rolling her into a ball when I'm not ready.N69V (Formerly NC36462)

Re: Alaska Fly-In
Dot,
You're welcome with or without the plane. Let us know if you are without a 'ride' and we will try to work something out for you. Steve and I already have passengers, but we will start looking for other right seat options for you.
We would like to have you there so you can gain the benefit of LOTS of T-Craft knowledge...that's what it's all about!

Re: Alaska Fly-In
Hey Alaska Gang,
I picked up the Reindeer Brats, 10lbs of flour for the 'bombs', and the charcoal for the BBQ grill tonight. It sounds like we could have a good turn out if the weather cooperates.
Pass the word if you know any other Taylorcraft owners/flyers. I think it's a safe bet that more of these fine airplanes are flying in Alaska than anywhere else. Let's come together to share our knowledge, friendship, and love of these great little bush planes.
See you in Skwentna on Sunday!

Re: Alaska Fly-In
It was a great fly-in. I think I missed a plane in here - I know at least two people out there have the official photos with people by their planes, and the group photo. Me, I just have a couple awful cell phone pictures.
Thanks to AKbrew for setting it up and organizing, and to everyone who came and made it a great time!
edited because I'm still getting the hang of attaching or embedding or whatevering pictures.Last edited by Dot_AK; 05-25-2011, 00:59.N69V (Formerly NC36462)

Re: Alaska Fly-In
Hey Dot,
How come you posted the only picture without my L2 in it. Did you photoshop it out? After all, I was the first one to arrive.
