hoping maybe some of the clipwing guys will chime in.


we know that our little planes seem to fly a little faster with some weight on the tail.

the cubs seem to fly a little faster when they set up for zero thrust to raise their tail. is it possible that the sweet spot for us might be just 2 or so degrees down so that the thrust line flys us with a little less drag. especially if on bigger tires

Interesting thought,
I know the guy that has the STC for the piper 180 dynofical/ swing out mount. I know he has built a swing out taylorcraft mount to use a 150 hp lycoming(super Taylorcraft).
I will be there tomarrow and ask him. I might could get him to play with it if I had an extra mount. Anyone have a banged up extended mount that they don't need?
I know it maks a big difference in the cubs.

You going to the show up there this week. a few from my parts headed up for valdez and the airmens. we'll get to see how well a kansan will do in comp.


I was also hoping to find an older short mount to play with. I believe that it could be easily adaptable without too much work.

I have read quite a bit about the thrust line mods here and on supercub.org. I havent really thought about it but it may be easier overall to just add a sc elevator / trim. the idea being that we could tune in the airplane for the given configuration to achieve the most efficient aircraft. that way neither the elevator or wing are working against each other.

I have the short mount that came off my upgrade, I built a whole extended FWF including the sheet metal so I don't think there is a need to hang onto the short.
It has been repaired, what to you have to trade?

Has anyone measure to see if the prop flange is parallel with the firewall? Tim
