Congratulations, Rod! She looks like a real beauty - and you've got the entire summer ahead to enjoy her!

And yes, Alaska Bushwheel has the STC for the tires and the tailwheel.

Hope to get out and play quite a bit this week. Should be able to get some numbers nailed down on cruise, etc.

Update on airspeed. I was able to find some nice stable air to check airspeed. It turns out that my brand-new airspeed indicator isn't reading correctly -- it's reading high. Using GPS and making multiple runs into the wind and then downwind, I find that I am cruising right at 90 mph. This is at 2300 rpm, 1200 ft, and about 40-degrees outside. It's been seven years, but if I remember correctly, I was cruising about 93 to 95 back then. So ... I think I lost about 3-5 mph going from 8:50s to the 20-inch Bushwheel Airstreaks. I think it's a fair trade off though ... the big tires are fun in the rough!

I forgot to mention; the guys who did the work for me (Crosswinds STOL) have a booth at the Alaska Airmen's Association Aviation Trade Show next weekend in Anchorage. They got a spot reserved just outside the FedEx hangar and NC-43121 will be on static display. For those in Alaska, swing by and take a look at the workmanship ... Charly and Mike do great work!

I will also have her down at the Valdez Fly-In and Airshow the following weekend.

When I went from 6.00s to 26s I noticed I could do wheel landings when I used to hit tail first. Plus rolling it on is a lot easier too.
