  • Website Upgrade request

Would it be possible to add one of the plug-ins that allow easier reading of the forum on smartphones and other devices? There are a few out there, including Forum Runner and Tapatalk.

They are pretty nice to use if you have that technology. I read the J3 site that way and it's really handy.

    Thanks,
    Erik

Forrest, a computer in my father's hands wouldn't have lasted more than 5 minutes. By the way, I still have his slide rule.

A Curta is a mechanical hand held series calculator. You input variables with a series of sliders and turn the crank to generate a mathematical solution. Basically it is a MECHANICAL hand held 4 function calculator. Looks kind of like an old pepper mill and the main users were doing survey work. They are pretty delicate and make a GREAT conversation piece in the office, especially when you actually USE it. Check out http://www.curta.org/

                  Hank,

I have never seen, nor heard of one. What era is that from? (No sarcasm intended).

                    Re: Website Upgrade request

No idea when they were invented but they were the "thing" in the 50s and 60s. Mostly used by surveyors (because it could do chain calculations so well) and later through the 90s in sports car rallies because it didn't count as "equipped" in SCCA, again because it could do chain calculations of time, speed and distance.

How did this website get changed, came in on 4/1 and everything changed, seems harder to find things.

Good idea, I'll look at those after I get things tuned up and people stop the Hating. I'm looking for someone to be the scapegoat if anyone is interested.

Slide Rule! Mine is made of bamboo with a magnifier curser. My math teacher thought it was great that I wanted to learn how to use it but wouldn't let me use it in class! All long hand only! :-(
