Hi All,
I am attempting to obtain details concerning the epic flight which was undertaken by my F22A ( N223UK ) and her Tail dragger F22 sister ( N221UK ) from the factory to the UK in July 1991.
The Aircraft apparently took the eastern sea board route via Greenland and Iceland to Scotland and finishing at Lydd in Southern England. The flight took 56 hours and the aircraft were fitted with 60 USG bladder tanks to the P2 side giving 100 gallon useable with the 20 Gallon wing Tanks.
In Chet Peeks book the Pilots were named as Bill Brody and John Stewart they must have been incredible Ferry Pilots and I can only admire their sheer guts and Piloting skills to undertake such a delivery in a small single engined aircraft.
I am wondering if these guys are contactable ( hopefully they are still alive ) and perhaps known to any of the tribe who may have been about the Factory at that time? Forrest / Chet anyone can you help?
By the nature of the delivery and the aircraft involved I can imagine that they may well have had a close association with the factory. I guess it must have been one of the longest flights ever undertaken by a Taylorcraft all be it completed in various stages?
Any help would be appreciated?
