Re: wing tanks shut off valve:ATTN Experts

Hi jc, can ya get the owner to have a picture to post here for us to look at? Here in snow frozen over eastern pa. I don't get to see to many t-crafts. Especially this time of year. My 46 bc12 d, has wing tanks and the valves are at the wing root. I have marked the-- on -- positon with a black marker pen on the white headliner. Guess there's more sophistcated way to do it but works for me. Most people who operate the aircraft with wing tanks know you better have less than half a tank full in the main if you attempt to fill the wing tank with the valve left open, cause your about to find out if the valve is open when you see the wire riseing in the main tank. Then you know for sure the system is funchioning. Also what postion to mark the valve, if there was any doubt. Jim l

you can see a picture of this airplane by going to Taylorcraft aircraft photos, scroll to #6 and look at Mayville N.Y. This photo was taken in 2009 just before it flew to Maryland. Its now based, after wing rebuild at W42, Fallston, Md. Colors are red, creme and blue. N95916. It is a Show Stopper! Russ Hardy of Amhurst, N.Y. rebuilt it and did a magnificent job. Every little detail was addressed, down to the wheel pants which he built himself from scratch. Interior is just as nice! The fellow who bought it from the insurance company for 6000.00 has put probably another 20 in it and it is once again like new. JC

        Jim,

Take the cap off and blow some air thru the valve while moving the handle. It will prove the handle position for on and off.
