  • Taylorcraft 75th Anniversary Reunion

In reading Chet Peek's book recently I see that 2011 is the 75th anniversary of Taylorcraft. And that on July 7th or 8th, 1936 Taylorcraft offically came to Alliance, Ohio. With this being the year of the Taylorcraft... who is going to the reunion party in Alliance? It is only five months away so we should be planning to get our aircraft ready for the trip and setting that week on the calendar to come!

I'm from California and would like to join up with others to make the trip more fun. I will likely take the southern route over the rockies. Anyone else going from the west coast? Anyone else going?

    Jerry,

I have every intention on going, but am in the Midwest and a heck of a lot closer than you. Hope to see you there.
    Cheers,
    Marty

      Re: Taylorcraft 75th Anniversary Reunion

I will be there making the whole 29 mile trip.. Actually fly past the house again to get there. Real question is whether the Tcraft will make this year or just the Pacer again.(need to finish wings)

Forrest has plans to recreate the famous picture in Chet Peeks book with the Protoype Model A that still belongs to the Taylor family on Thursday, the 7th. We are welcoming early arrivals to participate. There are also plans to pay tribute to John Glenn's first solo flight in 1941 which occured 30 miles to the south at New Philadelphia in a 1940 BL-65. So alot maybe happening. My family makes a big weekend and would be able to help with some transportation if needed. Would love to see the field full of Taylorcrafts!

I hope to make it, but my Tcraft is far from a show lady. She enjoys flying way too much to get all dolled up, so she will come with all her bumps and scratches.

If mine is ready, can I park with you? Ray's new rebuild just looks too good to park next to.

              Ryan,

If the weather cooperates and we can fly there, we will, otherwise we will drive.

However, we would need a ride to the hotel if we fly.....???
              Cheers,
              Marty

Marty, no problem. I will be staying on the field, and we will have a car or two there as well. Get you where ever you need to go.

Carrieve, bring her on out anyway. The one thing that makes a flyin great is airplanes that fly in. I remember N43754 being there with gray spray paint spots on the struts, and about 4 shades of yellow. She needs wings to get finished to make it this year. My 22 mo old has figured out airplanes have wings and tells me everyday "Daddy the plane is broken" when we get in the car.

If the weather gods cooperate, we'll be there with 44274 ('46 BC12D-1)!

The 60's syndrome; can't sleep a whole night anymore! Dang! I remember when I was young, we'd be getting home just before dawn. Now I'm awake before dawn...

Yes please do. We are considering making t-shirts to sell for a nominal fundraiser for the foundation. My dad reminded me of this logo. I don't recall it as I was five at the time, but he couldn't locate any of his. I am looking for ideas for a 75th anniversary design.
