  • Attachment Tabs

I have two welded on tabs that have me puzzled. They are located just below the aft wing attach fitting and just above the upper door frame tube. One on each side welded to the aft side of the verticle tube. Confused? Anyone know what is attached there? Aircraft is a '40 B model.

Mike, If it is on the top of the upper longeron, it might be where the tapered piece goes that blends the cockpit area into the fuselage.

        Re: Attachment Tabs

Tabs are located on the aft side of the vertical tube that comes out the bottom of the rear wing attach fitting cluster. Lacated about half way between the rear wing attach fitting and the 1/2" square upper door frame tube.

Is this where we locate a block of wood to attach the aft headliner bow?

Mike, I didn't have a chance to look at my fuselage, but I think it might be an attachment for the baggage compartment support. Tom

Are you are describing the lower tab in this photo?

Yes, but mine is a little lower. About 1" above the 1/2" square upper door frame tube. Mine is a '40 B model with now back windows.
                  Thanks,

I took pretty much the same picture that Richard took. This is how I used the tab. I think the tab is used to hold the wood former in place.

Thanks. Gone Senior, I guess. I remember that wood from my '41 now. Anyone know how the aft headliner bow attaches in a '40 B Model, no rear windows or hat shelf behind the baggage compartment?
