OUCH! They hung the mass of the gascolator from the carb by the fuel line fittings? Somebody should be taken out behind the barn for that!

I don't like the fix either! You don't fix a BAD DESIGN by making the wrong part stronger! You FIX THE DESIGN by moving the gascolator and putting a flex line between it and the carb!

Second AD requires two braces between the engine case and the inlet fitting on the gascolator...

Later planes (Alons) have the gascolator on the firewall. Much better, except for some unexplained fuel starvation issues...
