What does it take to put a Lycoming back in again? (My plane was originally a BL-12-65 converted to a BC).
Is EVERYTHING made in China now? I saw an American flag that had a stamp on the package that said "Made in China"! We don't even make our own FLAGS NOW!!!
I WANT to buy American, but it is starting to look like I CAN'T! Looks like if I want it "Made in America" (meaning in the U.S.) I have to make it myself. OK, SO BE IT!

OK,so now where do the raw materials and tools come from?
From my rant on boycott of Chinese goods: "If we did this it would stop the Chinese from buying up the world's resources with the money that WE give them."
They already have the tool market locked up, and they have plans for the for the world's materials resources too.
Flog me with a whip, but I sure do like the Nanchang (SP?) CJ6. They were going to sell them new here for $129k, but Cessna talked to Congress and fixed that. Just as well I suppose. Someone here should have bought the Nanchang company, then we could have an "American" CJ6. Of course they would mark it up to half a million then.
Edit: slick move actually. I mean, you must have an engine manufacturer if you are going to build GA airplanes for all your new rich guys.
Aerospatiale put an Airbus Manufacturing facility in china. That's what they are going to regret. Hope its not like their clothing or electronic equipment. One way wear.
China is putting themselves in a real pinch I think.
They have limited energy resources. They will hit peak coal decades before we do. They must sustain growth year after year to keep their people happy. The citizens of China have been conditioned over the past 10 years or so. Many of the previously poor citizens are realizing prosperity (as much as national socialism allows of course). What happens when they have exhausted their resources and can no longer sustain growth and prosperity? 1.3 billion citizens are going to start to get antsy. Chinese are leaches. They suck from other economies and efforts.
A few months back I discovered that one of my products my company designed and manufactures was cloned and is now being sold for half of what we sell it for. It killed sales of that product nearly overnight. It took me personally 4 months of design and prototyping to get the product to a marketable state. We sold it for about 18 months and wham.... cloned by the damn Chinese. I was only a few months into being in the black on that product after all R&D and tooling costs were covered. Now I sell 1/3 the quantity I did before the clone.
I didn't bother with an international patent. Useless unless you have buckets of money to try to defend and the Chinese can give a crap about patents.
I hope what happens is they suck themselves dry and outgrow their ability to sustain growth and production and self implode.
Yeah and Aerospatiale already has enough problems keeping their aircraft in one piece.
As for borrowing money from China I think we are starting to see a trend of them NOT buying so many Treasury bonds, but but rather investing in raw material resources worldwide. Frankly seems like a really clever thing to do. I don't know who is buying this last run of bonds though.
I suspect China will discover that producing aircraft engine parts and engines is easier said than done. Watch what they do to the big Continentals 520's and 550's. It ain't so easy to make a cam and lifter that will last in those engines.
They can't even make reusable underwear. I stopped buying them from walmart. I now go to JC Penny. They are chinese also, but they have better chinese making them. Last a little longer. It's the chinese conspiracy to destroy us. They sell us junk, we keep buying it, they take our money and we go bankrupt. Might have to resort to protectionism, which could eventually lead conflict.
Every time a US product manufacturing moves to China, we become less able to protect ourselves. My son pointed out that the reason we won WW II is becasue we had the best manufacturing capabilities in the world. Today we rank near the bottom in manufacturing ability. Heaven help us if we have to start producing lots of war materials again.

Yes, and unfortunately there is a consistent pattern of behavior of nations that when the economy gets powerful then the military gets powerful. When the military gets powerful the country will inevitably start using the military as a means of accomplishing their goals, whatever they might be.
It is a decidedly destructive characteristic of large economically endowed nations that may or may not play out in the Nuclear Age.
Let's see, Teledyne engines to military might, off thread I guess.
What got us out of the great depression? England and France got us out! We sold them, prior to entering the war, MILLIONS of dollars worth of guns, tanks, old ships, etc. for....CASH! then when they were broke, we started lend-lease. Then we did the same with Russia! This time, we started two wars, got little or no help from the so called "coalition", overpaid billions to " private contractors" like Blackwater, etc. (Mercenarys) lost billions, still unfound due to corruption and theft. And.....both wars STILL go on! Next time....BEFORE the war starts, we institute the DRAFT! Then there will be no war. Rich kids dont wanna go to war. They wanna go to good schools, get poor marks and fly stateside in the air guard. JC
