  • Well I Did it

I have been entertaining the idea of swapping my PA22-150 for a light sport type airplane and today I became the owner of a 1946 BC12-D65 N96290. Now I have to get my 5 hours of dual to satisfy the insurance and get survival crosswind training as the wind always blows in NE. I am sure I will be bugging the group with a lot of to you stupid questions. Yes I will get some pictures.

    Re: Well I Did it

I took my BC12D out for a stroll this A.M. after bolting on a new MCCauley 74-43 metal prop. There was a BIG difference from the wooden prop. Coming back into the pattern, the wind had picked up considerably(15?) so I slipped and had wing DOWN into the wind and it still didn't wanna land. Finally it touched down! It is nothing like a cub on landing. A cub likes to float but nothing like a T-Craft and if you put them nose to nose you'll see why. The T-Craft is really a glider with an engine. Fun to fly! Again....the new McCauley made a BIG difference in takeoff. Still cruised at 90 (according to my 70 year old speed gage.) Have Fun! JC

          Lyn,
Welcome and congrats! I have a step daughter that's moving not too far from where you're at. Not sure what the other 2 posts up there had to do with your thread, but they are information.
          Can't wait to see pictures!

Red & white...my favourite Taylorcraft colours!

Welcome to the forum, Lyn, and best wishes with the flying. It's not difficult (if it was, I wouldn't have done it!).

Jim is right...there are no stupid questions. Ask away; we'll do our best to help out.
