  • Alaskans hows the ice

Just thought i would give a update for the skwentna area. Upper fish creek lake has 5 to 7 inches of ice and its been about 5 below at night for the last few nights. Won't be long if it stays cold. How about your area??.....
Ready for some ski flying how about you??

It's been in the high 20's at night and in the high 30's-low 40's during the day. Some years the lakes freeze up hard, but most years Kodiak does not stay cold enough, long enough to put the plane on skis (at least in my opinion).

Our Lake ( Wolf Lake ) I would think at least 5-6 inches of ice, I 've been walking on it for awhile, haven't landed on it yet. I'am still on wheels.

Tim... at some point this winter, I plan on putting the T-craft in and changing the nose tank and installing your fuel valve if that's what you are wondering. But first I am covering PA-12 wings, which I'm in the process of right now.

Eight inches of ice on Anderson Lake as of an hour ago. Two and a half inch increase in the last seven days. I will tie down on the lake as soon as I have time to move the plane.

my buddy checked the ice yesterday on upper fish creek lake 9 inches.
The runway at willow is prime for ski flying now.
Will be going to the cabin soon..... Cant wait..

Lance..those are 29 in Bushweels. How much snow is out at your cabin ? My cabin is a few miles north of fish lakes and I'm thinking I can land on the lake by now, With skis.

Theres not alot of snow but the ice i would say is good at your lake.
I talked with Grant at anderson lake he has a cabin on otter lake just a mile from me he landed on his lake with a cub a week ago and said it was fine.
Hey do you know anything about the Airstreeks that bushwheel sells. I was going to get the 29'' bushwheels but i hear the Airstreeks are allot lighter i would like to know how they work compaired.... have you heard anything good or bad..
