I'm not an expert, but I believe the short mount is the same for a 65hp and an 85hp.

OK for us dummies (I am top of that list) what is this short mount and assume long mount difference beside length? I have a BC-12D 65 Cont. Do I have a long or short mount?

You have a short mount. The long mount moves the engine 4" forward, used on F-19 and Model 19Harer conversions and others.

A stock Taylorcraft short mount for an A-65 is the same mount used for the C-85 without electrical. It bolts right up. So does a C90-8 and C90-12 but not C90-16.

Actually, the -16 (if you can find one) should be fine. It's basically a -12 with a vacuum pump drive. The -14 (probably what you were thinking of) takes the same mounts as the O-200. It, too, would still bolt up but it would be pushed forward about 3/4".

So does that mean an O-200 would fit on a short mount as well?

Before folks go switching engines and mounts, just remember if the firewall to prop flange distance changes you need a whole new cowl. Hope you like sheet metal work!

It'll bolt up to the mount. All other bets are off...
