  • Looking for BC12D front spar to fuselage attach fittings

Started annual today went to pick up on the left wing to block the Axel to check the brakes and grease the bearings could feel a clunk when I picked up on the wing. Well long story short, the fitting on the end of the front spar is worn out will need to remove the wing and replace the fitting. I think it is called a butt fitting. Can you buy a new fitting or do I look for a used one? thank you

That fitting is not normally a wear part. It would be wise to give that spar and wing a good inspection. Something seems really wrong.

Yes I this is not normal,The plane was restored and less than 40 hrs on the restoration, new spars were installed. The plane sat on the tarmac for years tied down and the wind rocking back and forth wore the fitting out. Thay miss it on the restoration not a good deal but we all make mistakes I'm glade we found it.The fitting would have taken some time to fail but probley would have cut a ring around the bolt and then came apart."Not a good day at the airport"

Check the bolts, fuselage fittings too! Mic the bolts, drill & ream the fittings; check the "factory" ones for sizes too. Fitting holes can be made smaller then reamed for fit. They should tap into place.
