I have a 1946 BC12d and would like to know what placards I need on the instrument panel and their location.

Two placards on the panel, one in the baggage compartment, and one at the wing tank fuel transfer valve.
The factory's instrument panel installation drawing shows the location of the two panel placards. (Sorry, my drawing is with my mechanic at the moment, or I'd scan it for you.) Part no. D-766, the Vne placard, "DO NOT EXCEED 140 M.P.H." goes under the left control wheel. Part no. B-7030, "WHEN REMOVING CONTROL REMOVE UNIVERSAL JOINT", goes under the right control wheel, in case you ever remove the right wheel for passenger comfort. These were embossed brass stickers. The photo below shows my first homemade Vne placard (sheet brass from the hobby shop, cut with scissors, and clear mailing label film from the office supply store) and the original I later bought from someone on the Forum.
Part no. B12-790, the baggage limit placard, "BAGGAGE NOT TO EXCEED 50 LBS." goes at the top of the baggage compartment.
Part no. B12-307-1, "REFILL MAIN TANK WHEN LESS THAN HALF EMPTY IN LEVEL FLIGHT ONLY", goes under the wing tank fuel transfer valve handle.
And of course your operation limitations FAA form says "THIS PLACARD MUST BE DISPLAYED IN VIEW OF THE PILOT". Mine, a 3x4 inch laminated piece of paper, is in view over my right shoulder in the documents pouch in the baggage compartment. I suppose I could stick it on the left glove box door with photo mounting corners...Joel Severinghaus

Thank you Joel for the placard information, I am now looking for sources for the origninal placards. In addition to the placards I believe I also need the following limitations on my 1946 BC12d:
Airspeed red line at 140 mph
Oil pressure red line at 10 and 35 psi
Oil temp yellow arc 40 - 120 green 120-220 and red line at 220
and tach red line at 2300

The engraver I was working with is still interested in making all of them but we need to get a price in writing before he makes another set of placards. The compass logos were a bit of a shock when he came up with the final bill and I haven't done much with the placards since then.

For the guys who wanted compass logos, I do have them now. We need to get together and see who still wants them.

These are VERY authentic looking, just need to figure out how much I ended up paying for them. I know for the box of them the cost was over $100 more than we agreed on.
They look great, and I should have figured I wasn't over a barrel to pay, HE was over one to get any money at all for them! He agreed to a price, then raised it because he had problems after the prototype. I feel for him, but I ended up eating the extra cost for his manufacturing problem.
I'll try and figure up what they actually came to tonight. I will not hold any of the original people who ordered to the deal if the new price if it is too high. They will sell eventually.

In my ship, the red line limitations are painted on the instruments' glass, which I believe is the original method. It says something somewhere, I think in the annual inspection checklist section of the BC12-D service manual (which is out at my hangar, sorry), about checking for limitation lines painted on the instruments.
If your hands aren't steady enough for a red fingernail polish brush, Wag-Aero sells a set of red, yellow, green, and white stick-on decals for range arcs and redlines (p/n A-005-199, $4.75) which one can simply cut to length and press onto the glass.Joel Severinghaus

Ron, go to the home page and click on Technical Resources, than click on Taylorcraft Parts Sources and other Resources. Scroll down to Yoke Centers and you will see information about John Cooper and the new control wheel yoke centers he makes. I orderd two for my plane and they are beautiful. I am certain you will be very satisfied.
