    Yep, part 45 requires a lot of stuff to be put on like the part number, FAA-PMA, and manufacturers information. You guys can hand drill the square hole all you want, I will still have mine punched out when they punch out the handle then I know it is exactly indexed....... Tim

        We just purchased a laser at work, and are currently learning how to use it.

        Making a part like the handle would be really easy, but I would guess shops wouldn't want the business unless there was a lot of parts required.

          Well got some handles back from plating and assembled 3 of them. They look good. Now I just have to get my STC finished and get a PMA, Tim

            I need a new Header tank valve and two new valves for the wing tanks.

            Is it possible to buy the valve described in this thread?

            Are there other FAA approved valves?

            Do folks get field approval for not PMA valves?

              We have a 4,000 watt laser. It could easily make parts like the handle shown, and it could engrave text or numbers on the part at the same time. The square hole would be a piece of cake.

              Running a part like that costs as much to make one as a whole sheet of say 400 parts. It costs a lot to run a laser. It uses nitrogen and oxygen in large volume, and helium to a much smaller degree. It is an expensive machine to buy, and set up for operation, well over a million dollars.

              For 10-15 parts, a manual process will always make more sense. Alternately, if a sheet could cut small quantites of a lot of different parts, that is OK. Once the drawings are made and nested on the sheet, the laser could care less what the shape is.

                    It looks like a pretty good valve. You might check with Teledyne about it's application.
                    Those old Imperials were used on gas stoves and modified to work on planes. Should be able to find something out there. The little Apollo ball valves were substituted for the Imperials on the Pitts. I think they put out a Service Letter on this.
                    The ones being made look more authentic.
