Re: AK Tribe-Vogel Lake
My wife and I will be meeting up with her Dad for vacation this spring in Alaska.
Any of you Alaska members planning on attending the Anchorage Trade Show or the Valdez Airshow?
Is there a place that Taylorcraft owners meet up during these shows?
Thanks
Craig

Re: AK Tribe-Vogel Lake
Hey Craig, I will be at the Airmen's Trade Show and am also hoping to get down to Valdez again. We don't have a formal T-Craft gathering there...2 T-Crafts there last year and we flew down there together. We need a better showing this year!
Our Vogel Lake gathering this weekend was lots of fun as expected. I'll be putting together some video, but until then enjoy this picture of an F-21, L-2B, and F-19 in front of the cabin.

Re: AK Tribe-Vogel Lake
Hey AK Brew... I might go to the Alaska Airmen show as a Vendor selling my little gadget. Should go over reasonably well up there. If you are going to that event on both days already anyway... would you be interested in a trade - a VIP Vendor show pass, parking pass and whatever other show-related costs... in exchange for a spot on the couch to sleep and transportation to/from the show? One of the Taylorcraft tribe has already been generous enough to take me up on it for the Sun n Fun show, so I figure...Taylorcraft : Making Better Aviators for 75 Years... and Counting

Re: AK Tribe-Vogel Lake
Hey Bill,
No problem...the couch is ready complete with two Dalmatians that like to have someone to keep them warm! Or, if you would like more privacy you can have the guest room with a bed. I won't need a VIP pass because I already are one. The show is at the FedEx Hangar and I'm a Sr. Mgr. over there...don't miss the big BBQ for the vendors the night before the show. I'm sure we can find you some rides to the show if I can't meet your schedule. I look forward to meeting you. We probably should have a little "T-Craft Gathering" at the Moose's Tooth with the Alaska Tribe to celebrate your visit. See you soon.

Re: AK Tribe-Vogel Lake
Wow guys, thanks.
'Brew, I will graciously accept the Dalmatian-equipped couch and/or the spare room. It is appreciate it greatly. I hope there's something I can do for you in return... buy all the drinks or something.
Tim, if your room mate is OK with it I will take you up on your offer in case AK Brew comes to his senses and changes his mind. I hope to meet you any/all of the T-craft folks up there, whether on this forum or not.
The big trick is making enough moolah selling widgets at Sun n Fun, to pay for the costs of that event plus the display booth and transportation to go to the Alaska show, to sell enough widgets in Alaska to pay off that show cost and still get to go to Oshkosh, to sell enough widgets at Oshkosh... and so on..
As the time grows nearer, we'll be in closer touch and hopefully I can make this all happen thanks to the generosity of the Tribe.
Thanks again,

Re: AK Tribe-Vogel Lake
Bill...careful with that offer to "buy the drinks". 3 nights at the Presidential Suite in the Downtown Hilton would be cheaper! (We're "professional" drinkers in Alaska.) Here's hoping you do well enough at Sun-N-Fun to make it up here. (I'll tell my dad to find you at Sun-N-Fun and buy something.) Don't wait too long to book your booth...they sell out usually. It's a BIG deal up here with thousands of pilots cruising thru. You're welcome to stay at my place, and I'll throw in a glacier flight seeing trip if you can work it into your schedule.
Tim...congratulations! Will you be working with aircraft MX? Who is your manager? I'll come look you up. You'll love working for FedEx. I intended to work there for one month during the Christmas rush as a temporary worker...that was 20 years ago this month.

Re: AK Tribe-Vogel Lake
I am going to be starting as a material handler and I will find out who my manager is today hopefully. Since it is part time I will be looking to find something full time also. It sounds like a neat place to work. Not many part time jobs offer bennies like full timers get. TimN29787

Re: AK Tribe-Vogel Lake
Hey Larry...that is a GREAT idea! I'll check in with dad and get a meet point set up so you guys can meet. I'll also email Suzy and see if she and all her wild and crazy friends will be down there. If so, you DON'T want to miss that party! I wish I cold join y'all as I need to thaw out. Instead, I'll be flying my little yellow T-Craft to Nome to revisit where my whole Alaska adventure began 30 years ago.

Re: AK Tribe-Vogel Lake
You AK folks can feel free to use my display booth as a rendezvous point at Sun n Fun. I'll be in the new "west" display hangar, I think booth E-38. Larry Haas (my gracious host for Sun n Fun and a double T-craft owner from Kansas) will probably be hanging around some of the time and want to meet other T-craft folks too. I'll have a big banner hanging up with a picture of a pretty girl on it.If all else fails, tell them to listen for the most obnoxious carnival barker shouting "step right up folks!" and their ears will lead themTaylorcraft : Making Better Aviators for 75 Years... and Counting
