I want to install an air filter on my 1940 BL-65 with a Lyc O-145. A Lycoming Service Bulliten recommends using a Chevrolet #15296265 which looks like one that I have seen on pre-war Chevrolets. I think that Taylorcraft also says to use the same filter on the L-2. I think that Franklin says to use the same filter on one of their early engines.
Unlike the Continental which has a flat airbox that faces forward and sits up on the 'chin' of the cowl, the Lycoming airbox comes straight down from the middle of the oil-pan and comes out of the cowl nearly half way back to the firewall.
I would like to put a legal filter on it, and one that did not look too out of place. I can get a 337. I would like to know what you Lyc O-145 folks are using and probably the Franklin folks too.
