  • Covering Iron

This information is for anyone who's going to cover their aircraft, but does not have a iron that meets the criteria required for tightening the polyester fabric. The Black & Decker Classic Iron,(now has the automatic turn off feature). The only clothing iron that I finally found that met all of the required features was a Rowenta Autosteam Model DZ1500. This was after purchasing and exchanging at least six different Irons. I purchased the iron at LOWE'S Home Improvement Center.

Thanks Rex, that's good to know. The last B&D I bought got smashed on the floor when it quit.....about half way through a cover job. I'm going to try out one of the irons that they use to put ski wax on. I've heard a few people say they've got a good tight range thermostat.

I usually hit up the thrift stores, they sometimes carry the old Steel irons that weigh a ton..... even with less watts, they hold the heat better. Tim
