I need data for installing a Aero tail wheel ski. I installed my roommate's federal 2000's but he wants to install his tail wheel ski from his stinson that is now on floats. Any help would be appreciated. Tim

Re: Need Ski Info
Unless you are operating in very deep powder.....The tailski is unnecessary......you may find that the tailwheel itself makes a nice braking device on skis.....In 25 years of ski flying i have installed the tailski once....the first year I ever flew skis.....and that was only for 1 flight, I took it right off.

Re: Need Ski Info
The tail wheel makes an excellent brake. I just used the plane in shallow snow for the first time, about 3 inches. with the tail wheel down and full throttle only got about 30 mph. Second pass with wheel up I managed 43 mph. As soon as the tail came up level the mains dug in and really bogged down. no tendency to come over though. The third pass was a charm tailwheel just off the snow and the plane came right off the ground with only a little longer than normal roll.
