Re: new brackes !!!!!!!
Tim,
I am not sure if I understand your message correctly. Is this a 337, or is it an STC that I can buy and put brakes on my airplane?
Do you have any info such as cost, or added weight?Richard Pearson

Re: new brackes !!!!!!!
Tim,
When you have more information please post it-and photos if possible.I just finished an F19 and tried to find a way to upgrade the brakes without having to go through the field approval process-but no luck. We didn't cover the gear so if it doesn't involve welding it still may be something to consider.
Thanks,

Re: new brackes !!!!!!!
I spoke on the phone to the guy that is getting the approval for the hydraulic disc brake installation. It is not an STC, but a 337.
They machined a part from brass that has a taper to match the original axle. You slip this part on and hold it in place with the original axle nut.
Then they sent a drawing of their part to an engineer who did a stress analysis and other paperwork so they would have approved data. They have now submitted it to the FAA and are awaiting approval.
If you want to pursue this avenue, the engineer's name and number is; Rocky Howard 512 266-0610. He is somewhere near Austin, TX.Richard Pearson

Re: new brackes !!!!!!!
Tim-
Mobile maintenance has been my specialty over the last few years since I was laid off from the airlines. It was worked very well, paid the bills, but has not gotten me rich. I use a little toyota for 90% of my travels, and borrow a truck when I need to use the jacks. BUT, here in Michigan, it sure is cold working out on the ramp.
