'39/'40 Help Needed

I have a '40 open cowl BC-65 basket case that I am begining to start to begin to comence to restoration. It is different than my '41 BC12-65 DeLuxe in some ways, so I have some rather basic questions.
1. When they went from single ignition to dual ignition where was the dual ignition switch located. Note: panel has the big tack. Push-Pull ignition switch was located above and to the right of the throttle on the single ignition bird.
2. Most of my wood is missing and most is like my '41. I only have the side rails of the baggage compartment, however. What did the baggage compartment frame look like in the '40? It is different on the '41.
3. Head liner bows are missing. Anyone have dimensions?
4. Are the inboard end of the trim tab airfoils closed off from debris that could accumulate during take-off?-ANSWERED
5. Anyone know where I can get control system chains?-NO LONGER NEEDED Boeing cowl latches?-DONE
6. Some of the other parts needed:
Carb heat box (none filter type)
Right landing gear leg-NO LONGER NEEDED
R/L landing gear brake belcranks-NO LONGER NEEDED
Tail brace wires (I have all the fittings)
R/L door handles (fabric doors)
One round control wheel
Jury struts
20-160 airspeed indicator
Sensenich W72CK44 wood propeller
Left aileron

I'm in the process of rebuild a 1940 BL-65 that I purchased disassembled. I may be able to help you with the head liner bows, if they are the wood pices that go above the doors on the air frame tubing. I have one that is good and plain to use it ase a pattern to make new ones. I can draw a pattern and mail it to you if this is the part you need. Rex

Thanks for the reply. The head liner bows that I am looking for are about
1/8" diameter rods about 3 feet long and plug into holes drilled in the square tubing above the doors and go spanwise from door frame to door frame inside the cabin and support the cloth headliner. What is your S/N? My BC-65 is 2093.
If I can help you with anything let me know. I do have quite a few T-Craft parts. I will list them all shortly. I am also looking for one round control wheel, carb heat box, engine eyebrow for pattern at least, a right hand gear leg, and some other stuff I have listed else where. I also have a pretty nice 1940 boot cowl for the closed cowl version (mine is open cowl).

I have tracings from my 41 rods I made when I was doing the headliner (I KNEW there was a reason to trace those!). I don't know if they are the same as the earlier model, but if no one has the ones from your year I will put them on the table with all the windshield and fairing drawings I am doing for others. Let me know if you can't get 1940 wire drawings, and if you DO get some, don't forget to trace them before you cover them up!

Hello Hank,
Thanks for the response. The bows between the doors are probably the same but probably differ aft of the rear door post as my '40 does not have rear windows or a hat shelf behind the baggage compartment. Those are the ones that are the real mystery to me.

My Taylorcraft N26551, ser. no. 1893, As you can tell I'm having all of the fun of rebuilding a aircraft that I purchased disassembled. I did not have any prior knowledge about Taylorcrafts. At this time I'm trying to assemble the wood farings on the airframe. I have found a few Taylorcrafts that I can look at but they are covered, making it hard to see. Otherwise every thing is going well. Any help is definitely appreciated. Rex

Unfortunately, I have rebuilt my 1941 BC12-65 DeLuxe three times (long story). This T is DIFFERENT. I initially was given a stripped fuselage and over about the last 7 years I have managed to scrounge up almost the rest of the airplane. I have a paper pattern for the trim tab wings and the aft trim tab belcrank, if you need them. PM your mailing address.

Dick Huish has the Boeing fasteners, but not the plates that rivet to the cowl for the blade part to sit in. He's at [email protected].
