Kollsman bubble face compass - what's it worth?

anyone venture a guess what today's economy might bring for this bubble face compass by Kollsman? It appears to be mountable to the tubes in a Taylorcraft.

I paid from $300 to $400 quite a few years ago. Recently one sold on eBay for just under $1,000! Till then I thought I overpaid.
It's worth what someone will pay for it.

It has been 5 or 6 years ago, found one on Barnstormers, with the Taylorcraft logo, very nice for $500, O.T.
