What are you using if any? I'm having a great time with my Magellen 315 which I"ve had for 5 years, but costs may have dropped and features may have increased since then - Mike

No one wants to talk about their GPS units Mike?
Mine is a Magellan Meridian, no model number that I can find.
It really isn't designed in any particular way for aviation, but it has WAAS and several functions that make it very practical in that usage.
It has an airport data base, several years old, but they haven't moved many of the airports that I use to different locations lately, so it works pretty good so far.
I must say that I really like it.

I still use my old 315. I have a new Magellan but it's just too big to use in the small Tcraft. I like the 315 because with one button I can find all the nearest airports.Eric Richardson

I have Lorance 600c I have not been able to fly engough with it but I bought it for it size came with nice mounts what fits in the right control colum with a clamp.
works well and is easy to use.But ! if you deside to make water white what function take a lot of memmory so it can frezze on you and it is not in the manual how to un frezze it: so here goes it:To hard bootPress and hold both power and pages for 3 to 5 seconds. Now you can reprogram your settings and take away what you over loaded it with.
I think the larger model works the same.

Hanging on the wheel of my BC12D is a first generation Trimble Flightmate. It's database is hard wired to a PROM. Its display is text made of dots, but it shows me groundspeed and heading and time to station (for my hand-entered local waypoints).
I was an early adopter of GPS with the Trimble and it served many years including going through my instrument rating in the Cherokee-235. It is simple and basic (like the TCraft) but it serves its purpose and I am used to its ways (like the TCraft). One of these days I may upgrade, but there seems no hurry. I have Garmin 495 which I used for my trip to Alask last year. I was fantastic/ It even has terrain clearance which was great in the mountains. It has colors and compared to my old Skyblazer (no comparaison). Worth the money

I use the Lowrance 2000c mounted on a lap board. The big display is real nice, and has a number of options on display format. It uses the Jeppsen data base for airspace and airports. I have the power connected to a 5 amp hr gel cell in my transponder box strapped in front of the seat. I used a hood and had a friend up as a safety pilot to see if I could use only it if I had an emergency and had to get down through the clouds. Spent about 45 minutes climbing, descending, and turning. Then navigated to an airport simulating descent to circling altitude. I managed it with some sloppy heading control -- but that could get better with practice. Hopefully, I'll never have to use that skill, but it is comforting to know I could get it down in and emergency.Dan Brown
