  • Sequence of welding the end of the LG streamlined tube?

I'm trying to think out the sequence of events for assembling/welding the bushing end of the landing gear down-strut (the streamlined piece).

I'd like to have the bronze bushing in place and use the LG as a jig to tack/align everything; Unless I remove the bushing before doing the welding, that bushing will be subject to considerale heat as I weld the strap around the tube(which holds the bushing), then both to the streamlined tube. What's a good sequence to avoid frying the bushing? - Mike

Tack everything in place installed, then remove the bushing for final welding, reinstall bushing, bolt back to gear and final weld to top of gear

      Thank you sir!!
I've got an old, destroyed gear I"m using as a model and am attempting to practice unwelding the upper end of that streamlined tube. There appears to be a tang of some sort inside. Any idea what that is? - Mike
