NC43306 (02/46 BC12-D) flew twice today after being totally disassembled in late 2006. The restoration included new spars, skylight, tail-strobe, and complete engine overhaul with new Millennium cylinders. Mark was the restoration adviser, teacher, helper and IA. He had the honor of the 1st flight. Astonishingly, this bird flew hands off once a safe altitude was reached. South TX temps today were at 100 degrees, and the aircraft performance was better than anticipated. My heartfelt thanks to Mark for getting me through this project, especially working with me on my mistakes! This has been a great project, and we are looking forward to starting his F-19 restoration! I would be remiss if I did not also acknowledge all of the others who dropped by the hangar with words of support and encouragement. Thanks to all. This aircraft was a delight to fly today! Doc

Congratulations Doc!
That is one fine looking airplane. You and Mark should be very proud to see it fly so well. It is definitely an exciting day!
I will have to come down and help with the F-19!

Re: NC43306 Total Restoration Complete
Hi Doc,
Congratulations! Sometime You and Mark should fly it over to San Marcos or to Huber Air Park. I finally finished the F19 and flew it to San Marcos and it's in my hanger and flew my 41 to Huber until the F19 is picked up and flown back to Alaska. The little cafe @ San Marcos has good hamburgers and Huber is close to Clear Springs which has great Cat Fish. Or Phyllis and I may fly my 41 over to see your Taylorcraft sometime.
Have fun flying that T/craft

Re: NC43306 Total Restoration Complete
That really is a great idea. Roger will probably have a the fly-in @ Kingsbury this Fall and it would be really nice to have some Taylorcrafts get together there. He has some very interesting WW1 planes and a nice airshow--they have very good hamburgers too. Seeing his DR1 and other old planes flying is worth the trip. Tick hill sounds interesting too--just be great to all those Taylorcrafts together.Last edited by Buell Powell; 07-30-2009, 09:14.Buell Powell TF#476
