  • fuel filler neck reinforcement

    Rob,

When you installed the alluminum reinforcement ring around your wing tank filler neck, did the flange go down or up. It is hard to tell from the photos on your site.

    Are you in Oshkosh now?

The flange went down, so that the threaded portion sticks up.

No, I don't arrive at Oshkosh until the 23rd, but my cohorts have set up camp already.

      Rob,

My fault. I said flange. What I meant to say was alluminum reinforcement ring. It is the one with the 1/2" holes around the diamater glued into the fabric. You have a picture of it on your web site under Wing Fabric covering. I can't tell from the photo which way it should go, Flange up or down.

Where do you fly into when you come to the States?

        OK, I see now.

I put the flange down (I don't know if that's correct, but it worked for me). The flange sits on the top of the tank quite nicely. What's important is to seal the fabric around the filler neck so that any spilled fuel cannot get inside the wing.

I fly out on the 23rd into Chicago, and I'll be at the Pietenpol & Hatz fly-in at Brodhead until the 26th when I'll drive up to Oshkosh.
