  • Alaska a&p

My son Amos recently graduated from NMU with his A&P Cert. Yesterday he jumped a plane to Alaska. This morning he is in Anchorage looking for work. Can any of the AK bunch give me some recommendations for places that he can apply (or avoid)? As I write he is canvassing Hood Lake operations.

    Thanx in advance!

I use Northern Aviation and like them. I don't know if they're hiring. He may also want to try some of the Part 135 operators as this is their busy season and typically do their work 'in-house'.

Wondering how your son's job search is going. If he's willing to relocate off the road system, mechanic jobs can be plentiful. Here in the Bethel area there are always seems to be a need for mechanics.

The reason that there is a need for mechanics in Bethel is no one can afford to live there..... That honey bucket guy charges too much!

          Jeff,

Amos ended up taking a job with Grant in Bethel. He is night shift and works 5:00-3:00am. Stop in an introduce yourself. I think his (2) week shift ends Wednesday. He really wants to get out and see/experience some of the area. He is not overly thrilled with the town itself.

I'll be sure to stop over to the Grant hangar. They do a lot of flying out here so they'll keep him busy. He's right in that there's not to much to the town, but it's what you make of it. There's plenty of outdoor activities that make it worthwhile. I came here with the intention of staying just a couple of years and it's now 20 years later.
