  • Original location of document holder

Can anyone tell me where the factory mounted the document holders in 1946? Mine has been on the upholstery panel by my left knee, but now that I'm removing my Airtex interior, it needs to go somewhere else. I've seen some mounted in the baggage compartment, as pictured below. Was that the original location?

For that matter, what were the original dimensions and materials? 5 x 7 inches? Black leatherette and clear plastic?

As we have discussed in the past many things change, nothing is for ever. Your ship probably came out with all that in a pouch , black like the one shown but behind the passenger at the top of the baggage sling.

Thanks Forrest -- until someone invents time travel so we can all go back and watch our ships come off the assembly line, you're our best resource! And thanks for your continued patience with those of us who keep wanting definitive answers that just aren't possible after so many years have passed.

I'll mount the document pouch exactly where you said.

          Joel,

I bet you would find a lot of info on the drawings (it's surprising what non-engineering info went on drawings in that era).

Now I'm thinking that you could spend a lazy weekend in Alliance, perhaps cataloguing drawer after drawer or Tcraft drawings?....
