        Re: Tannis?

I forget where I read this suggestion, but when I plug in my Reiff heater the night before, I leave the dipstick cap loose so any water vapor that the heat strip on the oil sump might create can escape out the oil filler neck. Don't know if that does any good or not, but it makes me feel conscientious.

i think thats the breather vent line purpose but either way might cause to much heat loss but no harm also I have used the pad systems for many years but have found that the reif system to be a far better and more complete heat, but then again, I suppose that any system will work it just depends on how long you have to heat in order to get your engine. Up to a startable temperature I know that at 10° I can have cylinder temperatures at nearly 70 . And yes I know that may not be the temperature of the internal part of the engine but I know, that is where my engine oil is at as well and I'm sure we could get into a whole other argument over proper preheating time etc. , but that's just my observations using my point-and-shoot thermometer
