Anyone's 100 LL prices going down at your airport? I Haven't flown anywhere to check myself. Ours peaked at $5.15 a gallon and hasn't moved down at all while auto gas is down more than a dollar. That puts the difference (at our airport) at more than $2.00. Never seen it more than $1.00 difference before.

The local bureaucrats have been carping about the airport operations being far into the red lately, so I wonder if they are keeping it up to rake in what profit they can on the wholesale to retail difference.

And I thought 5.15 was high (compared to the drop in Mogas.) Thanks for the ref.

        Re: Fuel Prices

Interesting problem. The higher prices at my field (1T8 - Bulverde) remain the same, while the prices at 1T7 (Kestrel) located 5 miles north have dropped. 1T7 moves more fuel than 1T8 due to their history of fair pricing based upon their costs. We also are seeing more of a large spread of AVGAS compared to MOGAS in the San Antonio, TX area. What is more interesting is that we have noticed considerably less flying going on...especially with the commercial helicopter school at 1T8. I spent the entire day at the airport and only 3 ships flew. We did pattern work with N43928 for an hour without anyone else around on an absolutely gorgeous day. Of course, it was the opening weekend of deer season, but with 78 degree weather, the hunting stand didn't seem right to me. Doc

Today at Burlington, WI 100LL is $3.59. It is coming down but you really do have to shop around.

100 LL is $5.20 & auto gas is $2.19 at most stations. Wow that's $3 a gallon more!

              Re: Fuel Prices

Our FBO sells 100LL, Auto Fuel, and Jet A. I use the Auto Fuel which he mixes 75% Auto Fuel and 25% 100LL. I flew yesterday and paid $3.50 per gallon for the Auto Fuel. Boone, Iowa Municipal Airport (BNW) is where I am based. He charges more than $3.50 if you use a credit card ($3.60). I can't remember what he charges for the 100LL--but it is also reasonable.

                Re: Fuel Prices

If Calif is any indication on the effect of having so many different autogas standards we would probably have $1.50 autogas if there was a single national standard. What a mess.
I can hardly believe $2.19 a gal. It just barely broke $3.00 here this weekend. Sure wish we could get 87 without ethanol out here.

I don't know about most airports and how they price their fuel, but I price my fuel based on cost. I don't roll my inventory very quickly, so the price will not change until I get new fuel. My fuel in my tank cost me more than some places are charging at the pump right now. Tom

You can check auto gas prices anywhere in the U.S. @ gasbuddy.com. Reg gas should be below $2/gal soon.

I'm on our local airport commission. We also price our fuel at a minimal margin above cost. It's kind of hard to lower the price to $3.50 when you paid $4.50/gal for the last load.

Sure wish I could get some of that cheap fuel, 100LL is $6.70/gal at the tank farm and over $7.00/gal pumped by the fueler at the airport. Auto gas is somewhat cheaper at $5.63/gal.

At Benton Airport in Redding, California, 100LL just dropped to $5.34 from $5.95. Auto gas is at $2.50 in the area.

50 Miles south in Chico, 100LL is $4.65.....no rhyme or reason that I can tell. At least we fly very fuel efficient planes. Both the Mooney and the TCraft get better mileage than my truck!
