  • Washers/Seals in wheel assembly

    The diagram here http://gallery.taylorcraft.org/main....geViewsIndex=1

is very useful but I am till trying to work out what each bit is as I think some are missing and wondering someone could clarify them for me.

On the inner end of the stub there is a very thin washer (26?) What is the next item (27) I have on one side only a metal bearing shield which is a thin flanged washer that fits over the bearing race.

On the outer end there is just a thin washer (41) but I think that outside of that should be a steel washer with a tang that fits the slot in the stub - is that 42?

I have heard mention of felt seals but nothing was evident - are there any required?

    regards

I have #26 (wide thin washer) and #41 metal seal that snaps in (not a flat washer) and #42 washer with tang.

The washer with tang can also be obtained from a good auto parts store.

    No felt seals.

No felts in the wheels. There is a thin washer than protects the brake mounting screws, then the inner bearing retainer seal, then inner bearing, then outer bearing, outer grease seal, keyed washer, castle nut.

Thanks, I think I have a picture of what I should have now. Will try the car parts route for the tang washer.
