DO NOT USE SUPERIOR RUBBERS. They are too soft and will go away quickly. Find and use Continental mounts only.

As cheap as they are and as easy as they are to change just get the rubber ones. I've never seen poly bushings, but they'd be rock hard if you could get them, kind of defeating the purpose. Although if yours are 30 years old they are no doubt hard as a rock now. $1.50ish a piece times 8 is hard to beat for airplane parts and with a cherry picker about an hour to change.

          Re: a65 MOUNTS

Unless you have some good very engineering capability behind you, the vibration absorption characteristics of a urethane (or other compound rubber cone) on a Continental installation are unknown. This means that some part of the airplane that has been protected from excess vibration for 65 years may now be exposed to harsh vibrations.

The engine guys will be rightfully worried about its effect on prop harmonic resonance, torsional crankshaft vibration, etc.

The airframe guys will rightfully be worried about the possibility of "work hardening" the steel fittings and bolted joints.

There may well be a better space age material that works wonderfully, and I'd be the first to try it, but it has to be run through the vibration analysis and engineering people first. There are many urethane and other compound bushings used in hi-po car suspensions, but those are different vibration environments than an engine mount. If there was a NASCAR or F-1 racing engineer who happened to love Taylorcrafts, then that would be the person to ask!
