    That would be why you have clearance issues. With the deep gears used on -12 engines, it makes the mags rather long. I actually meant the large gear is fiber, not the drive gear.

      I always start with one mag. That's because there's a big Bendix on one side and a Slick on the other. I start with the impulse-coupled Slick, and it always fires, hot or cold, on the first or second pull.

      I used to have two Bendix mags, but people were scared to prop it because it would kick back if you didn't flip it hard and fast. Love those old Bendix mags, though.

        I have two bendix mags with the impulse on the left mag. If I try to prop it on both mags, it will kick back. It never kicks back and will generally start on the first blade if I start it on the left mag. When I first began to prop it on one mag, I was not mentally sold on the idea, but after doing this way for several years----no big deal---easy--simple.
